As part of its commitment to collaboration, coordination, and building a strong movement for change in Kansas, the ACLU of Kansas has created the Marching On Fund.
The Marching On Fund is a micro-grant program for smaller, grassroots organizations that are focused on defending and/or promoting civil liberties across the state. The Marching On Fund wants to recognize organizations led by impacted people and communities, especially people of color
The Marching On Fund supports Kansas, organizations, and communities by focusing on efforts that address our mutual aspirations; supports the leadership of and fosters participation by impacted communities; and encourages learning and sharing across the movement.
In its inaugural year, the ACLU of Kansas will award funding of up to $1,000 per organization for program support. Eligible organizations must be Kansas-based, grassroots-oriented, relatively early in their capacity-building journey, and both led by and serving people of color and/or people directly impacted by civil liberties attacks. Eligible organizations must be working on issues related to democracy, equality, equity, freedom, and justice.
Our goal is to award a meaningful and impactful gift that will enrich the infrastructure of an organization. We especially invite applications from organizations working at the local level to create systemic change on issues of voting rights, criminal legal reform, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive healthcare, police accountability, and immigrants’ rights. Applications will be accepted from January to June with The Marching On committee reviewing applications in the month of July.
