Federal Appeals Court Hearing Tuesday in Kansas Voting Rights Lawsuit

WHAT:
A federal appeals court will hear arguments in the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas' lawsuit filed on behalf of Kansans who tried to register to vote via the state Division of Vehicles, but were illegally forced to provide additional documentation. Thousands of people were prevented from registering because of this law, which a federal district judge described as “a confusing and inconsistently-enforced maze” and blocked for the November election.
The ACLU will ask the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals to affirm the district court’s ruling to ensure that thousands of affected Kansans can vote in the presidential election.
