Civil liberties are major issues in every election, but this November’s election may be as important as any in the last 30 years.
That’s why we’re sponsoring Kansas State House Candidate Forums to give voters the opportunity to hear directly from, and talk directly to, candidates about where they stand on the issue of criminal justice reform.
Join us for a candidate forum on criminal justice in Sedgwick County on Monday, October 1st. This forum is sponsored by Kansans for Smart Justice and the Kansas Coalition for Citizen Participation. All Kansas State Candidates from House Districts 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 25, 29, 30, and 39 have been invited.
This forum is nonpartisan, free, and open to the public.
Co-sponsors include: ACLU of Kansas, Ad Hoc Group Against Crime, Council on American Islamic Relations – KS, JENI/Peace and Social Justice Center, Kansas Appleseed, KSVotes, League of Women Voters of Kansas-Sedgwick, Wichita Branch NAACP, Sunflower Community Action, United Church of Christ-Kansas/Oklahoma Conference and Women for Kansas.
This forum will be moderated by Dion Lefler, Investigative Reporter for The Wichita Eagle Newspaper.
