OVERLAND PARK, KS - Nadine Johnson, Executive Director of the ACLU of Kansas, will round out a panel of legal and political experts discussing the “constitutional crisis” brewing in the nation’s capital during an event set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Wyandotte South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, 66104.
Johnson is a former diplomat and professor of Political Science and Constitutional Law. She joined the affiliate last summer. Her fellow panelists will be Dr. Greg W. Vonnahme, Associate Professor from the Department of Political Science at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and the Honorable Daniel Duncan, retired Judge from the 29th district Wyandotte District Court.
The discussion, involving the myriad aspects of the current impeachment inquiry, is part of a new, non-partisan “Listen and Learn” program sponsored by the Wyandotte County Democratic Central Committee. The seminar intends to inform the public and provide background, context, and factual information in an objective manner.
Topics discussed may include:
• How far does the authority of the President and his appointees, go in dealing the Congress?
• What role do the courts have in political battles between the legislative and executive branches of government?
• Why should all of this matter to us?
Too often, important civil issues are presented in an incomplete, ambiguous, or emotionally charged manner, a WyCo Dems information flyer said.
These seminars are designed to “separate hype and emotion” from the facts and to help people reach more informed opinions. The program is free and open to the public.
